The Rockville Centre Homemakers celebrated 100 years of community involvement and making friendships at its Roaring ’20s Gala on Oct. 31.
The club, which comprises talented women of all ages, meets to share their knowledge of knitting, crocheting, cooking and making crafts. Gathering every Tuesday at the Rockville Centre Recreation Center, they also act as a book club and discussion group, and enjoy friendly competition while playing canasta and mah jongg.
Over the years, the Homemakers have supported Mercy Medical Center, South Nassau Communities Hospital and other local organizations by making pillows for breast cancer patients, hats for premature babies, blankets for cancer patients and red scarves for heart patients.
