RVC woman arrested after fatal crash

A Rockville Centre resident was arrested after an accident on North Centre Avenue killed a woman.

Police said that Asya Ulmer, 21, of Clinton Avenue in Rockville Centre, was driving a 2000 BMW northbound on North Centre Avenue when she hit a parked tractor trailer near Meehan Street. Ulmer’s passenger, Jennifer Alexis, of Bayside, Queens, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics

Ulmer was transported by the Rockville Centre Fire Department to South Nassau Communities Hospital after complaining of pain.

Ulmer was charged with second degree vehicular manslaughter and driving while under the influence of alcohol.

She was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead today. Judge Eric Bjorneby set bail at $20,000 bond or $10,000 cash. Ulmer faces up to seven years in prison if convicted.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
