As a resident of Lynbrook for more than 40 years, David O’Neill has always been very much a part of the community. He attended Lynbrook High School, graduating in 1985. He and his wife, who was born in the Lynbrook, are now raising their six-year-old daughter. For the last 10 years, he has coached the Titans, the boys’ Lynbrook High School lacrosse team. And since 2003, he has been a businessman in Lynbrook, first in the mortgage and real estate industries, and most recently, as Operations Manager of Village Car Service.

O’Neill says he saw the need for a way to help get community members home safely, particularly the younger ones. With the new DWI laws, there is an even higher demand for reliable transportation. Between offering quality, updated and clean vehicles, competitive pricing, and responsible drivers, he does his part to help community members get a safe ride. Additionally, one can purchase Village Car Service gift cards, which is an excellent idea for anyone out on the town to keep their wallet, should they find themselves short on cash and needing a ride home.

Village Car Service covers Lynbrook, East Rockaway and surrounding areas. Whether transportation is needed locally, to a train station, for an evening out, to the city, or to catch a plane, they can accommodate. They will go virtually anywhere; just call for a quote. Seniors and the disabled, who can qualify for discounted rides, can know that there is a reliable alternative to get to a doctor’s appointment.

Vehicles are either white luxury town cars or mini vans. Pricing for airport transportation — to JFK, LaGuardia, Islip or Newark airports — are clearly listed from each surrounding town on the Village Car Service web site:  www.villagecarserviceliny.com.  Drivers are required to have a background check, random drug testing, a Nassau County TLC license, and any other town or village license required. Twenty-four hour service happens seven days a week.

For a local ride, said O’Neill, call at least 20 minutes prior. One can call up to two weeks ahead to reserve airport transportation. If a round-trip ride is needed, the driver can track the returning flight online and meet the customer at the airport. A “meet and greet” service is available too, to accommodate your out-of-town guests.

Corporate and personal accounts are available, where customers can be billed monthly. Village Car Service accepts Master Card, Visa and Discover. Text “TAXI 291944” (no quotes) for weekly specials, and show your phone to the driver to use the discount. Coupons are available on the web site as well.
