Sky Athletic to host St. Jude fundraiser

On Nov. 15, Sky Athletic Club in Rockville Centre will be hosting a fundraiser to benefit the St. Jude Children’s Hospital Give Thanks walk later this month.

The fundraiser, which is open to everyone and not just Sky members, is a special 90-minute class called “Cardio Burn” hosted by two of Sky’s trainers. The class starts at 8:30 a.m. and entry is $20, open to anyone. Sky Athletic is located at 310 Merrick Road in Rockville Centre.

The event was put together by Hewlett resident and Sky Athletic Club member Patti Birnbaum, who also recently ran a three-day fundraiser in East Rockaway.

“I volunteer for St. Jude and this is the second year Sky Athletic Club has been involved helping me raise awareness and money for this deserving charity,” Birnbaum said. “This has become a wonderful annual community event with a tremendous amount of local support. I feel honored and privileged to be the captain of team Sky’s The Limit, a committee member for the Give Thanks Walk, and part of the Sky family.”

In addition to the special class, the morning will also feature raffles from local supporters, including many Rockville Centre restaurants and businesses. Lynbrook Bagels is also donating breakfast.

All of the money raised will go to the St. Jude Give Thanks Walk. So far, Birnbaum has raised $5,351.
