Small business Saturday encourages shopping in Rockville Centre

There's nothing small about shopping small

Posted

The idea behind Small Business Saturday is to highlight the day after Black Friday as a day to redirect shopping and spending from big-box stores to local businesses and service providers.

The small businesses in every community depend on local residents to thrive. Research has shown that 93 percent of American consumers believe it’s important to support local business, and 73 percent make the choice to shop at community businesses. Among the Rockville Centre businesses that are encouraging you to shop local and shop small by offering special incentives this weekend, are Artrageous, Bare Essential Intimates, Extra Effort Contractors, Heaven Can Wait, Joan Stadt Interiors, Masters & Company Florists, Peter Frank Salon, Sparks Unisex Haircutters and Vanity Suite Boutique. They join other businesses , mentioned in last week’s Herald, that include Accent on Eyes, Art Flowers & Gifts, Bertalia, Cohen’s Fashion Optical, Eden Total Skin Care, Flaxman Furniture, Giftology, Guilty Indulgence, Isabella’s, Jeannine’s Boutique, Kid’s Cottage, Lucky Finds, Maple Avenue Dance Shoppe, Michael’s Jewelry, Rhea Nichols Shoes and Rockville Camera.

Local retail businesses, neighborhood restaurants and professional service providers are members of the community. Their property taxes help offset homeowners’ property taxes. Their contributions to the local youth teams and other organizations help weave the fabric of a healthy community.

Small Business Saturday on Nov. 26 is a day many shoppers will celebrate by patronizing their local downtown and neighborhood stores, eateries and service providers.
