South Hempstead man arrested for drugs

A resident of South Hemptead was arrested on Thursday, April 5 for an alleged drug deal he made with two female residents of Roosevelt while at the corner of Willis Street and Grand Avenue in South Hempstead.

According to detectives, officers observed Frantz Villejoint, 48, of Willis Street, South Hempstead as he was approached by a 1995 Ford. One of the occupants of the vehicle, Julia Lopez, 38, of Brookside Avenue, Roosevelt, exited the car and allegedly made a drug transaction with Villejoint.

As officers approached, Villejoint allegedly placed a bag containing crack/cocaine into his sock, while Lopez dropped another bag containing the same on the ground.

When officers approached the vehicle, they also say they saw the third defendant, Michelle Hickman, 46, of Prospect Street, Roosevelt attempting to hide a cigarette box containing glass stems with crack residue.

During a search, officers also discovered a .25 caliber semi-automatic handgun in a pocketbook belonging to Lopez.

Lopez was charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a substance, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Villejoint and Hickman were each charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. They were all arraigned at the First District Court in Hempstead on April 5.
