In what has been an annual tradition since 2004, the boys soccer teams from South Side Middle School and St. Agnes Cathedral School met for a scrimmage Monday afternoon. In the seven years they have played each other, the teams have tied twice, St. Agnes has won three games and South Side has won two, including Monday’s 2-0 victory.

Alessandro Pugliese and Connor Prendergast scored goals for South Side as Goalies Matt Horcher and Chris Kildunne fended off St. Agnes’s attack.

South Side coach Bob Baulch said that St. Agnes always fields a competitive team that makes for exciting matches. The South Side team played St. Agnes last year as 7th graders and this year as 8th graders, and won both matches. The victory capped off an undefeated season for South Side.

Baulch described his team as an interesting and talented group of young men who worked hard and played well together in every game. He said it was a pleasure to be their coach for two seasons and that he looks forward to watching their continued success as they move on to the next level. St. Agnes is coached by Pat Mullooly.
