St. Agnes holds Community Reading Day

St. Agnes Cathedral School held its Annual Community Readers Day on Nov. 22. It was an exciting event for students where members of the local and village government, as well as people who work and volunteer throughout the Village of Rockville Centre and surrounding communities, came to the school and spent time with students. There were 36 readers in all — librarians, policemen, firemen, priests and hospital personnel, just to name a few. They go to each class, kindergarten through 8th grade.

At the beginning of the event, the school received a special citation from Town of Hempstead Supervisor Kate Murray. A wide selection of books was given to the guests to choose from. Each reader was escorted to a classroom where they spent time with the students reading from their book and answering questions as they arose. It was an event that both the students and volunteers thoroughly enjoyed.
