Student-athletes recognized for accomplishments

South Side High School recognized all of its student-athletes who earned All-County honors and above during the fall sports season at the Jan. 18 board meeting.

Athletic director Carol Roseto introduced each of the athletes and spoke about their accomplishments on the field. The teams included cross country, swimming and diving, football, golf, soccer and volleyball.

The football and girls’ cross-country teams won their conference championships, the girls’ soccer team was the co-county champions and was named a NYSPHSAA scholar athlete team, along with girls’ volleyball and swimming and diving.

The following athletes were honored by the board:

Girls’ Cross Country:

Kaitlyn More (state qualifier, All-County)

Carly Woelfel (state qualifier, second-place All-County)

Talia Cutrone (All-County)

Amanda Maughan (All-County)

Swimming/Diving:

Samantha Gallego (state qualifier, All-County)

Football:

Jonathan Pickett (All-County)

Joseph LiCalzi (All-County Honorable Mention)

Golf:

Ryan McCarthy (All-County)

Boys’ Soccer:

Patrick Basile (All-County)

Jake Camarillo (All-County Honorable Mention)

Thomas Doyle (All-County Honorable Mention)

Girls’ Soccer:

Alexandra Diez (All-Regional, All-State First Team, All-Long Island First Team, All-County)

Juliana Klaum (All-State, All-Long Island First Team, All-County)

Alexandra McNicholas (All-State Second Team, All-County)

Volleyball:

Cheryl Scalice (Nassau County Coach of the Year)

Kiersten Colvin (All-State, All-Long Island Second Team, All-County)

Grace Feiner (County Scholar Athlete)
