Toys for Tots

The Rockville Centre Fire Department is once again taking part in the Marine Corps’ “Toys for Tots” program.

Sgt. Daniel E. Monteiro from the Marine Corps Reserve Center in Garden City, pictured above, visited Woodland Engine Company 4 and talked to its members about the goals of the program: to distribute toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted and deliver a message of hope to less fortunate children that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.

Residents can donate new, unwrapped toys by dropping them off at any of the village’s firehouses where they will find a donation box, or give them to firefighters in their neighborhood for delivery.

American Legion Post 303, at 197 Maple Avenue is another drop off point for this program. Members of the local post will collect toys on Dec. 5 from 8 a.m. - noon.
