Two Rockville Centre police officers were injured in a scuffle as they arrested a 39-year-old Freeport man in an Allen Road home on Monday night.

According to Nassau County Police Department detectives, when village police responded to a house alarm at 7:39 p.m., they found Jerry Valery, of 15 N. Long Beach Road, inside the Allen Road home. He was holding a bag containing items from the home, police said, adding that they also found a back door of the residence open when they arrived.

Officers said that when they attempted to arrest Valery, he fought with them and tried to take one of their weapons. They said they were forced to use a taser to subdue him. Two injured officers were taken to area hospitals for treatment of hand and leg wounds. Valery was also taken to a hospital for evaluation.

He was charged with burglary, two counts of attempted robbery, two counts of assault and resisting arrest, and was arraigned on Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
