On Monday, Dec. 7, veterans from Rockville Centre, Lynbrook and East Rockaway, gathered at Lister Park in Rockville Centre to remember the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. The ceremony was chaired by Rockville Centre American Legion Post 303 Commander Joe Scarola and both Mayor Francis X. Murray and Lynbrook American Legion Post 335 Commander Hank Speicher spoke during the ceremony.

During the ceremony, the Rockville Centre Fire Department color guard presented the colors while members of the police department were also in attendance.

At the end of the ceremony, Murray, Speicher and East Rockaway VFW Post 3550 Commander Steve Owen threw a wreath into the nearby creek to remember all those lost during the attack 74 years ago. The ceremony closed as all the veterans stood and saluted their fallen brothers as taps were played.
