Watson Elementary School's young authors

Watson School is pleased to announce three winners of the Young Authors’ Contest, a writing contest that is sponsored by the Nassau Reading Council. Students were required to write a well organized personal narrative filled with detail and voice. There were more than 1,000 entries, so the school was extremely proud of the achievements of kindergartner Michelle Martino, third grader Richie McQuillan, and Nicolette Diaks, a fourth grader.

The students were honored, along with the winners from other schools across Nassau, at a ceremony on June 6, at Molloy College. They read their entries aloud in front of a packed audience of family and friends, and received a journal for future writing projects.
