From the Hand:Drawings From the Hofstra University Museum Collection
This exhibition highlights some of the remarkable drawings from the Hofstra University Museum’s permanent collection. Artists represented will include Benny Andrews, Leonard Baskin, Jean Cocteau, Arthur Bowen Davies, Harvey Dinnerstein, Arthur Gibbons, Charles Dana Gibson, Wolf Kahn, Ezio Martinelli, Philip Pearlstein, Diego Rivera, Norman Rockwell, George Romney, Burton Silverman, Isaac Soyer, Abraham Walkowitz, and Benjamin West. Kindertransport
This remarkable exhibit describes, through documents and photographs, the experience of the approximately 10,000 Jewish children brought to safety in Britain from their homes in Eastern Europe. Richard Avedon: Photographer of Influence
A retrospective of the career of photographer Richard Avedon, who worked in New York from the 1950s through the 21st century. Highly regarded for revolutionizing the genre of portraiture, Avedon created some of the most iconic works of the 20th century. Through Sept. 4. Robert Hite: Imagined Histories
Sculptures sited among Hudson Valley landscapes are seen in this exhibit. Hite is a sculptor, painter and photographer whose work reflects nature and the surrounding landscape. From 2006 to 2010, he installed and photographed a series of mixed/media architectural sculptures called Imagine Histories: Hudson Valley Landscapes. The exhibition includes a sculpture and black and white photographs from the series. Through Sept. 4.
