To celebrate the Festival of Lights, residents attended a special Hanukkah Happening at the Sea Cliff firehouse on Dec. 5. Guests were treated to an assortment of holiday treats and crafts to ring in the fourth night of Hanukkah. Children made dreidels they painted themselves and colored menorahs with markers and pens.
Cantor Gustavo Gitlin of Congregation Tifereth Israel joined the fun during the menorah lighting, singing joyous prayers to lift the spirits of all in attendance. Different menorahs were crowned with colorful candles and lit as Gitlin sang the accompanying prayers. Children were given special glasses to watch some magic as the candles burned. The lenses made the flames look like stars.
