Nathan's coming soon to Wantagh

Construction continues at the soon-to-be Nathan's in Wantagh.

The smell of hot dogs and cheesy fries can mean only one thing…Nathan’s is coming to town.

The new business will be located at 3341 Beltagh Ave. in Wantagh and will be adjoined to Beverage Barn. Both businesses are owned by Harry Rotenberg, who also runs Cherrywood Auto.

“There are too many burger joints around here,” Rotenberg said. “There are no frankfurter places, and who can forget about Nathan’s fries?”

According to Hempstead Town officials, permits were issued for two applications on Jan. 14. The first includes the installation of a gas water heater, grill and valve and two deep fryers. The second is for the construction of 14 fixtures on the first floor. The work is being done by GTX Construction Associates Corp. of Freeport.

Other Nathan’s locations nearby include Westbury, Oceanside and Farmingdale, and Rotenberg said it’s time that a Nathan’s-caliber eatery comes to Wantagh.

“Why make these people travel far?” Rotenberg asked. “If you get something good here, it will serve the community well.”

He hopes to open Nathan’s doors in early April, and the business will have the full menu, featuring the signature hot dogs. There will be burgers, fries and shakes as well. Rotenberg added that he’s not concerned about overflow for Nathan’s due to its proximity to Wantagh High School.

“We’re going to be fully staffed,” Rotenberg said. “We look forward to bringing a new taste to Wantagh.”
