Seaford seniors flock to harvest social

Posted

Seaford residents met their neighbors and got reacquainted with old friends at the second annual Senior Citizen Harvest Social on Oct. 28.

The Seaford Wellness Council sponsored the event. Members welcomed dozens of local folks to the middle school gymnasium for the festivities.

The council, a nonprofit organization devoted to activities that promote wellness and community beautification, held the first harvest social last year. “We’ve been wanting to do something to help and support the senior citizens of Seaford for quite a while,” Mike DiSilvio, the council president, explained before the 2015 event.

DiSilvio said that the social was designed so that local seniors may meet and interact with each other. Attendees ate dinner and dessert and danced to the musical stylings of Steve Cassano with their neighbors.

The council’s marquee event, the Hot Chocolate Run, is set for Dec. 3. The 16th annual 5K race begins and ends at Seaford High School. For more information about the organization, visit www.seafordwellness.com
