St. William’s thinks spring

Snow flurries didn’t chill the spirits of residents or vendors at the annual Spring Fair held on Saturday at St. William the Abbot School in Seaford. The fair included a variety of gifts and crafts such as quality Irish imports, glassware, handmade picture frames and holiday and spring specialty items.

The Easter Bunny was on hand, providing each boy or girl with a special treat in time for spring.

Children also participated in an Easter egg hunt in the schoolyard. “There are tons of eggs out there in plain sight,” Kathy Mulvihill, a volunteer, said. “Find five eggs and win a prize.”

She pointed to the goodie bags filled with Easter surprises. “We prepared 80 bags,” she said.

Hungry after the hunt? The food court served hot and cold food and a variety of beverages. There was also a breakfast selection of bagels and muffins for early birds who had a long day of shopping ahead of them.

The spring fair, now in its 15th year, helps to support St. William School and the church, said Brenda Fitzgerald, co-chairwoman of the event. Volunteers Donna Digangi, Carol Patchin and Melissa Win manned the 50/50 raffle table and John Cochrane, another volunteer, used his manly charm to persuade people to buy Easter lilies and tulips.

“This is a fun event,” Fitzgerald said. “The kids can play in the yard. It’s a great place for families to be together and hang out.”
