On Feb. 3, Mulcahy’s Pub & Music Hall in Wantagh played host to the 19th Annual Tribute to James D. McNaughton, a New York City police officer and Army Reservist who died in 2005 to sniper fire while guarding prisoners in Iraq. The tribute was a heartfelt fundraiser dedicated to honoring his memory, and was attended by friends, family and former coworkers.

The event became a poignant celebration filled with dancing, music, and shared memories at the bar. The gathering marked the 19th anniversary of McNaughton's passing, and the community came together to pay respects and ensure his legacy lives on.

Throughout the evening, attendees enjoyed live music from the band Plunge, shared stories of McNaughton's bravery, and raised glasses in his honor. The event's purpose extended beyond remembrance, as it served as a fundraiser for multiple charities over the past 18 years.

The tribute was organized by the James McNaughton Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for organizations such as the Centereach High School Scholarship Fund, Wounded Warriors Project and the Northport P.T.S.D Veterans Association.

According to event organizers, the tribute event has had over 75,000 attendees throughout its history. McNaughton’s legacy, coupled with the recent passing of his father, Bill – an NYPD officer – made this year's gathering particularly significant.

The funds raised at the Annual James D. McNaughton Tribute will contribute to various charities, carrying forward the spirit of service and camaraderie that Staff Sergeant James McNaughton exemplified in his life.
