Manor students shop ’til they drop

Posted

Seaford Manor School students got to do their holiday shopping and they didn’t even have to venture to the mall.

The PTA hosted its annual Snowflake Village last Thursday and Friday, which allowed children to buy gifts for their parents, siblings and anyone else on their list. Tables were set up around the gymnasium featuring items such as jewelry, toys, ornaments and mugs. There were gifts for sports fans, and even for pets.

Merchandise was purchased from a Long Island-based company, according to PTA co-President Nancy Saloman, and sold by parent volunteers. Nothing cost more than $5, she said.

The gym was decorated in a winter theme to make it a “great, festive occasion,” Saloman added. One parent donned a Frosty the Snowman costume and greeted the young shoppers. Snowflake Village has been a holiday tradition at the school for more than 20 years.

Second-grade students sold hand-made items they created, including picture frames, pins and ornaments, with their proceeds going to charity.
