Our Redeemer Nursery celebrates 30 years

Posted

The sun was shining and birds were chirping at the Our Redeemer Nursery School annual picnic on May 26.

Our Redeemer, a Lutheran church on Washington Avenue in Seaford, has housed a nursery school for 30 years. Dozens of families from Wantagh, Seaford and Massapequa made their way to Seamans Neck Park to celebrate the anniversary and play games, craft and eat snacks.

“This is an annual tradition that has been held for more than a dozen years,” Director Caitlin Dilemme said. “It definitely has grown over time.”

Members of the school community raised money to pay for the picnic. The event featured bounce houses, craft stations and face painting. Youngsters also munched on breakfast and sweet treats.

The school’s faculty and staff members were on hand to answer parents’ questions about Our Redeemer. Dilemme, who has been the director for seven years, said they look forward to speaking with local folks at the event every year.

“It’s a good day to see a lot of the parents we don’t usually see,” she said. “Overall, it’s just a nice gift for all of the families.”
