A Macy’s employee and her alleged accomplice were arrested last week and charged with stealing more than $30,000 in merchandise and cash from the Green Acres Mall department store between April 20 and May 1.

Jasmine Hylton, 29, of Queens, used her employee key and a supervisor’s pass code to disarm the alarm and enter the store with Kevin Peterkin, 26, on four separate occasions, according to Nassau County police. The pair, whose relationship police did not describe but who live at the same address, allegedly entered the store on April 20, 25, 26 and May 1 and stole approximately $17,000 in clothing, $8,000 in electronics and house ware and $6,600 in cash from various cash registers.

The supervisor was not involved, police said.

Police investigated the thefts and arrested Hylton at the store on May 5 at 3:35 p.m. Peterkin was arrested at 12:20 a.m. on May 6 in front of his home. Approximately $10,000 of merchandise and $1,430 in cash was recovered from inside, police said.

Hylton was charged with four counts of first-degree burglary. Peterkin was charged with three counts of third-degree burglary. Both suspects were arraigned on May 6 at First District Court in Hempstead.
