A woman’s body was found floating in Little Bay near Fort Totten in Bayside, Queens on the morning of Aug. 7. New York City Police later identified the woman as a 25-year-old Elmont resident, but did not release her identity.

Locals were walking along the waterfront when they noticed the body floating face down in the bay. They alerted New York Fire Department officials who were running training exercises nearby. The FDNY’s Marine 4 unit removed the woman’s body and performed CPR in an attempt to revive her.

A car that police believe belonged to the woman was found in the parking lot behind Little Bay, not far from the water. The woman’s death is still under investigation, officials said. No cause of death has been released.
