The Tommy Brull Foundation will hold its 6th annual fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cannon’s Blackthorn, 49 N. Village Ave. in Rockville Centre.

The Tommy Brull Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit organization focused on improving the lives of those with physical, mental and emotional challenges in Nassau and Suffolk counties.

The foundation was launched in 2008 and is dedicated to honoring the life of Rockville Centre resident and former Camp ANCHOR counselor Tommy Brull. Since its inception, the group has raised over to $150,000 for multiple charities, including Camp ANCHOR’s building fund. They have also raised money for multiple individuals and organizations on Long Island, including Jim Lasko, Kevin McDermott, Billy’s Buddies, and The Young Autism Program.

This year’s beneficiaries include, The RVC Baseball Challenger League, Connor and Friends, Angela’s House and a mini surf camp for individuals with special needs with Surf for All.

“We’re teaming up with Cliff Skudin and Surf for All and we’re going to do a surf camp next summer; we’re trying to have it as a week-long thing for 50 kids,” said Martin Brull, Tommy’s brother and a co-founder of the foundation. “We’ve also been teaming up with this kid Dylan [Hronec] who has cerebral palsy; we started taking him tandem surfing, and it just lit up his life — he was having a tough year and it’s definitely improved his quality of life. So we decided we were going to get him his own surfboard and have it specially designed.”

“We are also presenting Camp Anchor with a check for over $64,000 at the benefit, and that’s going to be used for audio visual equipment and the new Tommy Brull Auditorium,” Brull added.

Saturday’s event will feature a Chinese auction, silent auction, grand prizes, and 50/50 raffle. Organizers are asking a suggested donation of $30 that includes food and half price drinks during the event. There will be live music by Matt Barthel, DJ Justone, and a live band at the after party.
