Members of Temple B’Nai Torah of Wantagh gathered at Forest City Community Park last Thursday afternoon, the first full day of Rosh Hashanah, to take part in the long-standing Jewish custom of Tashlich. Participants threw bread into the water, to symbolically cast away their sins.

Rabbi Marci Bellows led the group of children and adults in prayer, as members of the Temple celebrated the Jewish New Year. Yom Kippur, part of the High Holy Days, begins Friday night at sundown. The day of atonement traditionally includes fasting and intensive prayer.
