Musical performances and karate exhibitions were part of Sunday's entertainment at the 28th annual Five Towns Community Chest in Andrew J. Parise Cedarhurst Park.

Solo artist Jan Slow, a Cedarhurst native now living in Rockville Centre, began the day's musical performances with his energetic brand of rockin' country music.

Warren Levi Karate, a Lawrence-based martial arts school, gave a couple of exhibitions, including a display of martial arts boxing by brothers Orrie and Yaron Markfeld.

Public officials, including State Sen. Dean Skelos (R-Rockille Centre), Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg (D-Long Beacch), County Legislator Howard Kopel (R-Lawrence) attended, along with Lawrence Board of Education Trustee David Sussman, who is the Republican candidate challenging Weisenberg in the 20th AD.

Cliff Richner, the co-publisher of the Nassau Herald, the sponsor of the fair, said the "Herald was happy to sponsor the fair."

A trio of Lawrence High School students, Nicole Eras, Patricia Magliaro and Shelby Applebaum sang. Eras also sang the National Anthem.

Dancers from Dance Express in Woodmere performed and the Bad Lucky Trouble band closed out the day's entertainment.

Mauzone of Lawrence served its kosher food offerings, Richie's Bagels from East Rockaway had its grill going all day and Edibles on the Go had popcorn cotton candy and sno-cones.

The movie, "E.T." that was postponed due to the weather on Sept. 22 has yet to be rescheduled.
