Police arrested man for robbery
    Police arrested 43-year-old James Robinson, of Pinelake Drive in Hempstead, for stealing another man’s cell phone and then threatening him with a weapon as he got off a public bus in West Hempstead.
    According to Fifth Squad detectives, Robinson confronted a 49-year-old man as he existed the bus on Hempstead Turnpike, took his cell phone and threatened to use his gun on the victim. The victim then called police, who observed Robinson and arrested him after the victim identified him as the perpetrator.
    Robinson was charged with third-degree robbery and arraigned on Sept. 9 at First District Court in Hempstead.

Theft, criminal mischief

    Detectives with the Nassau County Police Department’s 5th Precinct report that unknown suspects stole a wallet, various credit cards and personal papers from a home on Ostego Road in West Hempstead between 2 and 10 a.m. on Sept. 3. They also report that someone broke the windshield of a car parked on Ontario Road in Lakeview around 10:20 p.m. that same day. A house on Ontario Road in Lakeview was burglarized between 8:10 a.m. at 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 7. A man reported to police that he found the door of his car, parked on Oak Street in West Hempstead, open and a GPS missing around 3 a.m. on Sept. 7. Sometime between 9 p.m. on Sept. 5 and 10 a.m. the next day, money was stolen from a car parked on Marlborough Road in West Hempstead.

Detectives investigate W.H. robbery

    Police are seeking four men who attempted to rob a young man on a quiet West Hempstead street earlier this month.   
    According to detectives with the Fifth Squad, the four men approached the 18-year-old man around 11:50 p.m. on Sept. 5 on Chestnut Street and told him to empty his pockets. The suspects were armed with a handgun, police said. The victim told the men he had nothing, and they proceeded to strike him on the head with a gun, causing a laceration.
    The four men then left the scene on foot in an unknown direction with no proceeds. They are described as black men, one wearing a baseball hat and light-colored zip-up sweater with a collar. No further description was available.
