Bellmore chamber gears up for the holidays

The Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores will host its annual Santa run on Friday, Nov. 26. Santa, driven atop a Bellmore Fire Department ladder truck, will make appearances at the following locations:

9 a.m. CVS shopping center on North Jerusalem Road, between Bellmore and East Meadow avenues.

9:30 a.m. Stop & Shop shopping center at Newbridge Road Jerusalem Avenue.

10 a.m. Ace Hardware shopping center at Merrick Road and Bellmore Avenue.

10:30 a.m. Bellmore firehouse on Pettit Avenue in Bellmore Village.

Thanks to Anne and Henry Stampfel of the Bellmore Movies, the children of the community will be treated to a free showing of a family-friendly movie after Santa’s visit in Bellmore Village.

The chamber will also distribute give-aways for the children. Bring a new, unwrapped toy for U.S. Marine Corps’s Toys for Tots program, which provides less fortunate children with toys during the holidays.

The Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores will celebrate Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, with its 14th annual menorah lighting on Wednesday, Dec. 1, at 6 p.m., at Broadway and Bedford Avenue in Bellmore Village. Rabbi Avraham Rabinowich of the Bellmore Jewish Center will lead the prayer. There will be chocolate Hanukkah gelt and give-aways, compliments of the chamber.

The Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores will host its 14th annual Christmas tree lighting and holiday extravaganza on Friday, Dec. 3, at 6 p.m., with the traditional horse and buggy and trolley rides throughout the village, followed by the tree lighting at 7 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial at Bedford Avenue and Broadway.
