Owners of the historic theater, Henry and Annie Stampfel, have hosted the prestigious film festival for most of its 20 years.

This year’s LIIFE included over a hundred short and feature-length independent films from all over the world.

Awards were given for: Best Director, Best Story, Best Feature Film, Best Short Film, Best Long Island Film, Best Student Film, Best Animation, Best Foreign Film, Best Web Series and other special categories. Technical categories included: Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, and Best Lighting. Technical awards were presented on July 14. The Special Acting Categories were to be presented at the awards ceremony on July 20.

The Stampfel Family took over operations of the theater in 1986 and also operate the Malverne Cinema & Art Center in Malverne and The North Shore Towers Cinema in Floral Park.
