Joshua Golub, a Calhoun High School senior, was recently named a semifinalist in the 2010-11 Coca-Cola Scholars Program. About 2,100 high school seniors, out of 71,000 applications, are in the running for $3 million in scholarships offered by the program. Two hundred and fifty finalists will be chosen to travel to Atlanta in April for a final interview.

Semifinalists were selected based on academic excellence, leadership, and achievement demonstrated in school and community activities. Golub is a member of five honor societies and the Advanced Science Research Program. He is both a Key Club and Science Club officer and a member of the Bellmore-Merrick Leadership Academy and mentoring program. He is also an accomplished musician and has been selected to perform in this year’s New York State School Music Association All-State Symphonic Band.
