Dukes of Dixieland
Enjoy some New Orleans-inspired honky tonk, presented by the Merrick-Bellmore Community Concert Association, this weekend. The Dukes of Dixieland weave traditional jazz and Dixieland into a mix of pop, gospel, country and authentic New Orleans sounds. The Dukes, the oldest continuing Dixieland jazz band, wear their New Orleans jazz heritage proudly, and are acclaimed as the globe-trotting jazz ambassadors from the heart of the Big Easy. This will be an evening that will have you tapping your toes to the Dukes’ distinctive sound.

Musaic II
The American Chamber Ensemble visits Hofstra for a concert of varied chamber music masterpieces. The legendary and now retired New York Philharmonic clarinetist Stanley Drucker joins pianist Blanche Abram and clarinetist Naomi Drucker, along with other ACE members. The program includes Quartet for Clarinet, Violin, Viola and Cello by Bernard Heinrich Crusell and Sonata for Clarinet and Piano by Francis Poulenc, and more.

The Great Fight of Ego vs. Truth
Commentary on modern life is presented in a unique theatrical work by the Aesthetic Realism Theatre Company. This musical event, “The Great Fight of Ego vs. Truth — Songs about Love, Justice, & Everybody’s Feelings!, features music and up-to-the-minute musings on life and politics. Ballads, rock ‘n’ roll, musical comedy, and labor songs are all part of this performance.
