Community helps cancer-stricken boy

Posted

The Long Beach Fire Department reached out to help a little boy in need.

Kyle, a 5-year-old boy from Long Beach, was diagnosed with Stage 4 neuroblastoma, and the LBFD held a blood drive for him at the Maple Boulevard firehouse on Jan. 24.

Doners gave 90 pints of blood and enough money to help Kyle and his family through their difficult time and for research for his form of childhood cancer.

Kyle is an outpatient at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Center in Manhattan, where he was scheduled to have surgery on Feb. 4.
