County looking for standout seniors

Nassau County is seeking nominees for its annual honor awarded to two local senior citizens who have demonstrated outstanding concern for their community.

“There are so many seniors who have dedicated themselves to enriching the lives of others,” said County Executive Edward Mangano. “While this award pays tribute to two residents, I commend all of our senior citizens for the vital role they play in our communities.”

Anyone can nominate a senior for the award. To be eligible, a nominee should be a county resident who is at least 60 years old, and has not won before. Employees of organizations will only be considered if the position is on a volunteer or unpaid basis.

The winners, announced by a panel of judges from the Advisory Council to the Office for the Aging, will have made outstanding personal contributions for the enrichment of the lives of others.
