A couple from Brooklyn was caught using fraudulent credit cards, according to police.

On Friday at 1:44 p.m., Anthony Ross, 30, and Nellie Gonzalez, 32, repeatedly tried to purchase six $100 gift cards at IHOP on Long Beach Road in Oceanside. Many of the attempts were denied, which made the restaurant manager suspicious. He wrote down the Virginia license plate number of the couple’s vehicle, and called police.

Nassau County Police found Ross and Gonzalez in an Island Park parking lot. Police discovered that they had used fraudulent, re-encoded credit and debit cards to complete the purchases at IHOP. Police also found another 80 blank credit and debit cards from various financial institutions in their car.

They were subsequently arrested. Ross was charged with 10 counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument, while Gonzalez was charged with 19 counts. Both were arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Dec. 19. Ross is being held on bail at $2,000 bond or $1,000 cash, while Gonzalez was released on $1,500 cash bail. Their cases continued on Dec. 22.
