In The Garden

Shakespearean Visions
Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is the inspiration for an eclectic evening of dance at Old Westbury Gardens, performed by Dance Visions, evoking the choreography of Isadora Duncan. Three different pieces are illuminated with lanterns and decorated by Shakespeare’s magical faeries. The first performance in the Boxwood Garden features live music composed by Strauss, Chopin, and Gluck. It is followed by a program in the charming setting of the Thatched Cottage Garden, with works by Shubert. The final presentation on Westbury House’s South Lawn features music by Schubert and Mendelssohn.
Saturday, June 12, 5-9 p.m. $12, ($15 at gate). Old Westbury Gardens, 71 Old Westbury Rd., Old Westbury. (516) 333-0048 or www.oldwestburygardens.org.
