Partly Cloudy East Meadow schools closed Tuesday

Hurricane Sandy was predicted to make landfall in New Jersey Monday into Tuesday, bringing hurricane-like conditions to the South Shore. As a consequence, the East Meadow School District has canceled classes for Monday.
At approximately noon on Monday, the East Meadow School District announced on its website that schools would be closed for Tuesday, Oct. 30. All school and evening activities are closed, as well.
It marks the second straight day of school closings as a consequence of Hurricane Sandy, which is expected to inflict its most damage on Long Island's south shore on late Monday afternoon into the early evening.
