At the Board of Education meeting last week, the Rockville Centre Education Foundation presented a check for nearly $60,000 to the district.

The money is used to fund grants by the Education Foundation. Teachers throughout the district apply for funding for unique programs, activities and educational equipment.

In the past, the money donated by the Foundation has funded author visits, theater performances, hands-on programs and more. The money raised purchased a 3D printer for the middle school and have helped fund new programs in the high school.

This year, the Education Foundation donated $59,661, all of which was raised through donations by Rockville Centre citizens and businesses. The Foundation is a nonprofit group dedicated to enhancing education in Rockville Centre. The programs it funds are things that go above and beyond what’s possible by the school district in its budget.
