E.M. Fire Department hosts fundraiser for Ray

Proceeds will benefit firefighter with cancer

Ray Pfeifer is a 35-year veteran of the East Meadow Fire Department and is battling cancer. The financial toll continues to weigh heavily upon his family and the department is hosting a fundraiser to help offset these costs.

Pfeifer’s 25-year career with the New York Fire Department began in 1987 where he was assigned to Engine Company 40 and in 2001, like many other firefighters, he was committed to the recovery effort at Ground Zero. He went on to play an integral role in the formation of the FDNY Center for Terrorism.

Pfeifer is ex-captain of Engine 3, “The Pride of the Meadow,” a married, father of two and lifelong resident of the Levittown and Hicksville communities.

Come out for a night of great friends, fun, food and drink. All proceeds will go directly to Pfeifer and his family to help offset the heavy cost of his cancer treatments.

The fundraiser will be held at the East Meadow Fireman’s Benevolent Association, 170 Maple Ave., on March 31 from 2 to 8 p.m. The cost is $40 per person.
