Firefighters fill their boots to fight MS

Long Beach Firefighters Chris Gormley and Joe Robson fill their boots, near the intersection of Park Avenue and Long Beach Boulevard, in a fundraising effort for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

A group of 28 members of the Long Beach Fire Department’s Uniformed Firefighters Association Local 287 set out on multiple days and weekends this summer to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
This "Fill The Boot" fundraiser utilized of the generosity of the Long Beach community during the city’s busiest time of the year. The firefighters greeted people at busy intersections and used their boots as cash tins to raise $10,025. The local firefighters were recognized by the MDA for their accomplishment and were guests on the nationally televised Jerry Lewis Telethon on My9 on Labor Day.
