Upcoming television show shoots scenes at local gym

North Shore Fitness Club, located on Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow, served as the set for scenes of an upcoming show produced by True Entertainment.

Frank Camarano, general manager of North Shore Fitness, said the program is a reality show based on Long Island set to air on Bravo next spring. He said a group of about a dozen people came in on July 20 for the shoot, which took about three and a half hours. He said they took up a small area in the gym and made it into their set. After about 45 minutes or so, they would pick everything up and move to another spot, doing so a few times.

The people at North Shore Fitness were happy to provide their gym for the shoot. President Larry Samuels said being chosen was a credit to the facility’s cleanliness, openness and atmosphere and that it might provide a boost in popularity. “Every little thing helps,” he said.

Camarano was also excited for the gym, which has now been used for two television shows. Long Island Medium, a reality show on TLC, filmed an episode in the gym last year. “I think it’s cool that people want to film here,” he said. “We’re proud of our facility.”

Gym members were allowed to use the facility freely during the shoot, and some ended up on film, Camarano said.

True Entertainment declined to comment on the show.
