Franklin Square gas station robbed

Police are investigating a robbery that occurred at the Sunoco gas station in Franklin Square in the early morning hours of Dec. 10.

According to detectives, a man entered the gas station at 355 Franklin Avenue at 2:30 a.m. and displayed what was believed to be a handgun under a black cloth and demanded money from the stations clerk. After engaging in a brief struggle, the suspect struck the clerk in the face. He then reached onto the counter and stole the clerk’s cell phone. The subject then fled the area on foot in an unknown direction.

The victim, who sustained minor injuries, described the subject as being 5’7’ tall, black, in his early 20’s with a thin build. He was wearing a black hoodie and a black mask covering his face.
