Freshman welcomed at Wantagh High school

The Wantagh School District welcomed incoming ninth-graders for its 2018-2019 academic year during its freshman orientation on Aug. 27.

The 192 freshmen were given information on academic expectations, eligibility in sports, and conduct and guidance goals while also being introduced to the administration, according to a release from the school district.

Also during this orientation, the student’s guidance counselors spoke with the freshman about their schedules and helped them open their lockers.

Assistant Principal James Brown explained to the students “the important of time management and school community involvement” and advised the freshman to always question whether their speech and actions are “right, fair, or kind.”

Assistant Principal Jennifer Santorello stressed the importance of class attendance and timeliness, the release stated.

Principal Carolyn Breivogel reputation and involvement in the school community are extremely important aspects to the futures of high school students. “Your name is your most powerful possession,” Breivogel said in the release.
