Give them chalk, watch them create

The Henry Waldinger Memorial Library provided the chalk and the children provided the imagination last Saturday as about 75 children turned the sidewalk between the library and Village Hall into their personal canvas. The library hosted its annual chalk art show as children made creations ranging from city scenes to rainbows to trees and flowers.

“They’re really thinking about what they’re drawing and taking their time,” said children’s librarian Jaclyn Kunz, who described the children as “very serious artists.” She was also thrilled with the great weather.

Children had a variety of colors to choose from. Many worked on their projects by themselves, and others had some help from their parents. Once the dust settled, the gray concrete running between the two buildings was anything but. The library has been hosting the event for the past decade.
