An Elmont woman was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident on Linden Boulevard in the early-morning hours last Saturday.

According to information from Nassau County Police Department detectives, the 32-year-old woman was crossing Linden Boulevard at 239th Street, from north to south, at about 3:50 a.m. when she was struck by a green Toyota Camry. The victim, whom police have not identified, was in the eastbound lane when she was hit. The car continued east toward Elmont Road, police said.

An ambulance was called to the scene by witnesses immediately after the incident, police said, and the woman was taken to North Shore University Hospital, where she was treated for a brain hemorrhage as well as facial and spinal fractures. Police did not detail her condition on Monday, as the Herald went to press, though they did say that they were not treating the incident as a homicide.

The vehicle was described as an older model, green Camry with a partial license plate number “ECH.” Police ask anyone who has any information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 244-TIPS (8477). All calls will be kept confidential.
