Inwood Firefighters rescue harbor seal

A harbor seal was found tangled in debris by a woman walking along the shore near Silver Point Beach Club on Atlantic Boulevard in Atlantic Beach at 6:30 p.m. on April 5, according to Inwood Fire Department officials.

The woman, who was not identified, called the Inwood F.D. The volunteer firefighters responded to the scene in the 4x4 unit 318-2. Wearing dry suits the firefighters removed the seal from the debris and guided it into the ocean.

A harbor seal is also known as the common seal, and is found along temperate and Arctic marine coastlines of the Northern Hemisphere.
