Jane Tierman Michaels, 63

Jane Tierman Michaels, a 34-year resident of Rockville Centre, died on July 28 after a long battle with cancer. 

She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of over 40 years, Joseph Michaels IV, loving and adored children, Joseph Michaels V, M.D. and Jess (Michaels) Bernstein, both graduates of South Side High School, their wonderful spouses, Heather and Michael, adored grandchildren Jake, Parker and Cameron Michaels, and loving sister Susan Tierman Kroll, M.D. 

Jane was an honors graduate of Baldwin High School, an editor of her high school year book and school newspaper, a Phi Beta Kappa, cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, College for Women, one of 16 participants in the Princeton University Scholar Abroad Program her junior year at Penn, a computer educator and teacher on Long Island for over 20 years, and a lifetime lover of reading, journalistic writing and continual learning. 

Jane was very active and enjoyed swimming, tennis, biking, skiing and taking long walks on the beach. She was dedicated to her husband, children, grandchildren, family and long time friends who will forever and greatly miss her kindness, generosity, joy, love of life, sense of humor and beautiful and continual smile.
