Lawrence Middle School teachers Kobi Gupta and James Vasaturo brought two teams of seventh grade Quest students (competing against mostly eighth grade students from many private/public schools across Long Island) to the Department of Energy National Middle School Science Bowl Regional Competition at Brookhaven National Laboratory on March 6. The two teams took first and second place out of 21 teams in the solar powered car competition. These students independently designed and built their own solar powered cars. Their cars completed a 47-foot track in just about 5.65 second.
