A festival was held in recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre at Eisenhower Park on Sunday, Oct. 16.

Hispanic Heritage Month, which is celebrated in Nassau County from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, honored the vital role the Hispanic community has made in the moments and movement that shape the country.

“Today, more than ever, Hispanic Americans play an integral role in shaping the American experience,” said County Executive Edward Mangano. “The influence of Hispanic culture is reflected in every aspect of American life, from politics to education to music and television.” He said Hispanics have enriched our culture and served with honor and distinction in every conflict since the Revolutionary war. “They have made invaluable contributions through their service to our country.”

The festival included live bands, cultural dances, food, raffles and vendors.
