Long Island police appreciation run set for June 7

The 27th annual Long Island Police Appreciation Run, sponsored by David Lerner Associates in Syosset, is set for June 7 at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow. Each year, the 5K garners support and raises funds for the Police Crisis Fund, which provides assistance to Nassau and Suffolk County law enforcement officers and their families in times of crisis.

Since its inception in 1991, more than 16,000 runners have participated in the run and raised more than $310,000 to enhance the lives of police officers and their families during times of need.

“Sponsoring this event and helping to grow the Police Crisis Fund over the years is a large part of who we are as a company and as a member of the Long Island community,” said John Dempsey, president of David Lerner Associates.

The event is open to runners of all ages and skill levels. For more information, call (516) 349-7646, or register online at www.glirc.org. To make a donation to the Police Crisis Fund, send checks payable to the “GLIRC Police Crisis Fund” and mail to: The Greater Long Island Running Club, 101 Dupont Street, Suite 24, Plainview, NY 11803.
