Lynbrook firefighters help bring Christmas to wounded vets

Nassau County Firefighters Operation Wounded Warriors brought Christmas to wounded servicemen and women at rehabilitation units at Bethesda, Md., Fort Belvoir, Va. And Fort Bragg and Camp Lejeune, both in North Carolina. The firefighters have done this every year since 2004.

A contingent of Lynbrook, Malverne and Stewart Manor firefighters brought Christmas to Fort Belvoir on Dec. 3. More than 200 soldiers and their children were treated to catered lunch and numerous gifts and presents. Firefighters also presented two Schwinn multi-purpose exercise bicycles to the recovery unit.

The fireighters also presented Lt. Col. Daniel Keener with an American flag donated by Floral Park Eagle Scouts given to the firefighters to present to the wounded.
